Advancing in the study of issues related to Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, on one side, we have realized that in this matter it is necessary to come to solid definitions; on the other side, we have noticed that some terms are often used in a non-technical way (e.g. cognitive ability, learning ability, autonomy). This use is very frequent in the media and it entails the real risk to confuse the reader who, like us, does not have a background knowledge on the field. For this reason, we have looked for a glossary which could represent an accompanying instrument to consult this section. The glossary here proposed is developed by Europ (European Robotics Technology Platform) as appendix to the “Strategic Research Agenda for robotics” (SRA).
